What it covers
This policy establishes how we handle the
information we learn about you when you visit our site. CPD
Online SEWales follows the principles set out in the Data
Protection Good Practice guidance from the Information
Commissioner’s Office (www.ico.gov.uk).
The South East Wales
Consortium and its member LEAs hold and process personal data in
accordance with all current legislation relating to data
protection and complies with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Data Collection
You can browse the Professional Development
Web site without disclosing any information about yourself. It
is only when you complete a form that requests personal
information (I.E the Curriculum Vitae Builder) or e-mail the
South East Wales Consortium that you can be identified. When
completing forms you may be asked for information such as your
name, establishment, email etc.
How the Consortium uses the
information:
- To book a place for you on Professional
Development events
- To send information about forthcoming
events you might be interested in
- To generate invoices
and/or journal entries for event fees/charges
- To inform the
Event Manager of any special requirements or assistance you
require
- To populate a users account with information
relevant to that user.
Cookies and Other Technologies
The
Consortium uses a tracking system to monitor traffic in CPD
Online, but all data collected is anonymous. This information is
held indefinitely to assist in the production of reports
analysing the use of CPD Online and in identifying trends. This
information is used to shape future development of the site and
the courses the Consortium provides. We collect the anonymous
information mentioned above through the use of various
technologies, one of which is called "cookies". A cookie is an
element of data that a Web site can send to your browser, which
may then be stored on your hard drive. Cookies are used to save
the visitor's password so that it does not have to be re-entered
at each new visit. It is recommended that you do not invite the
computer to remember passwords. The following information is
stored in the cookies:
- IP address
- Session number
- User ID
If a
"registered" user returns to the site without logging in, the ID
stored in the cookie are used to track the user (unless the user
manually deleted the cookie, at which point the server will
automatically regenerate another cookie). Also, when we collect
personal data from you in connection with a transaction we may
extract some information about that transaction in an anonymous
format and combine it with other anonymous information. This
anonymous information is used and analysed only at an aggregate
level to help us understand trends and patterns. None of this
information is reviewed at an individual level. If you do not
want your transaction details used in this manner, you can
disable your cookies. We do not associate the information stored
in a visitor's cookie with any other personal data about that
visitor. All our employees and processors who have access to
personal data and are associated with the processing of that
data are required to respect the confidentiality of that data.
CV Builder / Personal Profile
LEA staff will not have access to
any information stored in a CV or CPD Online personal profile.
Any information stored in the CV Builder is strictly
confidential and will not be accessible by LEA administrators
without a users express permission. Please note some fields
within the Builder are optional while others are mandatory
(indicated with a red asterisk). Security
We intend to protect
the quality and integrity of your personal information. We have
implemented technologies and security policies to protect the
stored personal data of our users from unauthorised access,
improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction and
accidental loss. We will continue to enhance our security
procedures, as new technology becomes available. South East
Wales Consortium and member LEA employees and processors who
have access to personal data are required to respect the privacy
of our visitors and the confidentiality of their personal data.
Notifications of Changes
As we create new services that may
generate a need to amend this privacy statement, we will
highlight such changes on the Web site home page. You will also
find available the Previous Privacy policy statement.
Information sharing and disclosure
South East Wales Consortium
and member LEAs will not disclose, sell or rent your personally
identifiable information to anyone, or use the data for any
other purpose incompatible with the purpose for which it was
originally collected. The LEAs within the South East Wales
Consortium reserve the right to share your information with
other LEAs within the Consortium if required. The South East
Wales Consortium and its member LEAs will not share your
information with 3rd parties or other organisations external to
the Consortium. Request for personal information A request to
view any personal information the Consortium holds should be
made in the first instance to the users LEA. The Consortium
administrator can also be contacted via
