Session 1: An introduction to classroom coding making use of the BBC Micro:bit. The course will be a series of practical activities making use of the BBC Micro:bit using resources prepared by the LNS school. All attendees will receive a resource pack consisting of the following: teaching & learning activities, learning objectives, PPT, pupil work booklets and lessons mapped to the LNF & DCF which can easily be implemented in any primary or secondary school. There is clear progression from year 1 to year 7 / 8, building on the skills at each step. Commitment to act task for all attendees-Use Micro:bits resources for a specific class and share practice with one other colleague. Upload any additional resources to the google / HwB STEM folder and briefly evaluate the quality of resources. Session 2: Following on from the workshop afternoon, there will be an opportunity for observation of STEM lessons in the newly designed STEM lab-programming equipment. Session 3: Twilight session: sharing good practice of current implementation of coding in schools and an opportunity to reflect on Micro:bit project.
