The professional learning programme for Heads of DT and DT teachers will consist of 3 sessions, with collaborative opportunities between sessions. The programme will focus on developing a ‘lesson in a box’ approach to lesson planning and delivery to improve students’ achievements in the theory aspect of the course.
Session 1: Delegates will discuss the lesson in a box strategy focusing on how lessons can be planned, resourced, and mapped to the LNF & DCF. Resources will be provided to demonstrate the approach. This approach is designed to improve theory standards at KS4 Design Technology. After the session, delegates will work collaboratively to develop a series of ‘lesson in a box’ to be shared in session 3 with all schools having access to the resources developed.
Session 2: Following on from session 1 - twilight session to share resource progress and discuss progress with their ‘lesson in a box’ Sharing of ideas before final presentation at session 3.
Session 3: All attendees will receive all resources developed by the group including a lesson resources.
The programme aims to develop a community of practitioners working collaboratively to increase their competence in the theory aspect of the new specification. The sessions will increase the availability of resources to schools and increase teacher confidence in mapping the LNF.DCF to work in D&T. Teachers will be sharing good practice and network.
