Schools as Learning Organisations ( SLO) Workshop 1 – an introduction for schools and preparing to engage with the SLO survey tool - Headteachers & PL Leads (John Frost Cluster)
The National Mission for Wales states that Wales has an ambition that all schools develop as learning organisations, in keeping with OECD principles. Schools that are learning organisations have the capacity to adapt more quickly and explore new approaches, with a means to improving learning and outcomes for all their learners’.
Each cluster professional learning lead will provide 2 workshops 1 in spring term and 1 in summer term.
This will support their cluster schools in preparing for and understanding the research that supports the development of schools as learning organisations. They will help familiarise and prepare school leaders for engaging all their staff, with the 7 SLO dimensions and Welsh Government’s online learning organisation survey.
The second workshop ( dates will be published in summer term) will help school leaders use their learning organisation survey results to help identify their strengths and development dimensions, examine good practice in the development of the 7 dimensions and plan ways for development of learning organisation in the cycle of development planning for 2019/20.
• Headteachers and professional learning leads will understand the research and rationale behind all schools developing as learning organisations • Headteachers and professional learning leads will be prepared to facilitate the SLO resources within their own school • Headteachers and professional learning leads will be prepared to engage with the WG survey tool later in spring term.
