Leadership Matters 7 Days
This professional learning offer is specifically for teachers new to the role of Foundation Phase leader, or those who feel that they need to develop their leadership skills further in order to raise expectations and standards in Foundation Phase.

It will consist of a range within the delivery model including central EAS delivery, peer visits, action research and lead Foundation Phase school sharing. All sessions will incorporate relevant aspects from the ELTF to support the learning conversation to improve standards.

This extended course (seven days) has proved highly successful in raising the profile and confidence of Foundation Phase leaders who have previously attended this course. All aspects of leadership are covered, including:
• leading a team
• creating clear action plans
• high quality provision and pedagogy
• providing feedback to team members and
• effective data analysis.

Strong leadership skills of Foundation Phase leaders are closely aligned to improved outcomes in standards. Where the Foundation Phase is well led, monitored and evaluated this leads to the raising of standards, as identified by Estyn in the annual report (2016-17) published in 2018
