‘Seize the season’: Embedding the Four Purposes

FOR NON_MAINTAINED SETTINGS ONLY

The event will focus on strengthening Foundation Phase practice and pedagogy in relation to the Four Purposes of the proposed new curriculum. Professor Donaldson and Estyn have noted the need for settings to ensure that they focus on developing the whole child through a broad and balanced curriculum which excites and engages all learners.
This professional learning offer will illustrate how utilising seasonal changes, special days and children’s natural curiosity can develop all four purposes in deep meaningful ways.

Why news literacy matters, and a whistle stop introduction to the Burnet News Club (Cancelled)
Social media bombard young people with information and present them with a complex picture of an uncertain world. To make sense of it all, young people need the skills to see past fake news, bad arguments and polarised debates. In this session, we’ll explain why news literacy matters and how the Burnet News Club gives young people the knowledge, skills and confidence to have their say on the issues affecting their lives.
Join key members from The Economist Education Foundation at this informal event to find out more and to network with schools already running the Burnet News Club.
