The aim of this training is to provide safeguarding training for chairs of governors and designated safeguarding governors in Monmouthshire. The training is specific to these roles and will aim to raise general safeguarding awareness and provide updates in relation to key legislation. The course incorporates the responsibilities highlighted in the statutory guidance ‘Keeping Learners Safe’.
Participants will have opportunities to: • observe children at play in the nursery and discuss how we create independent learning skills from an early age • observe the impact of the learning environment (including outdoors and snack time) on engagement and involvement • observe and discuss critical Role of The Adult • observe and discuss the benefits of block play • observe and discuss the potential of loose parts play

Successful Futures: Introducing the Four Purposes to NMS

The event will focus on strengthening Foundation Phase practice and pedagogy in relation to the Four Purposes proposed new curriculum. Professor Donaldson and Estyn have noted the need for settings to ensure that they focus on developing the whole child through a broad and balanced curriculum which excites and engages all learners.
