Foundation Phase Profile moderation – RECEPTION
It is important that teachers in Reception have opportunities to discuss and consider children’s achievements in order to develop consistency of practice when using the WG Foundation Phase Profile. Key messages regarding the expected use of the assessment materials will be discussed with a significant proportion of the session being spent on sharing teacher assessments and reviewing progress in relation to both the Compact and Full Profiles.

P4C Support Group 2018-19
Following the success of last year’s work, this is a group to provide opportunities for teachers and schools who are practicing Philosophy for Children (and those interested in doing so) to exchange ideas and strategies for developing better P4C. The group contributes to more effective practice in the area and builds a strong interest in P4C across nursery, primary and secondary schools, colleges and their communities.

Performance Management
A two-hour workshop for governors on the role of the Performance Management
Committee.
It is a statutory requirement for governing bodies to undertake the performance management review for headteachers. This workshop is designed to aid and support governors in their responsibility for reviewing and agreeing performance management objectives with headteachers.

Primary LLC Leads Network (East)

In response to feedback from Headteachers and teachers across the region, this network will focus on supporting primary leaders of English and literacy from individual schools and those representing clusters of schools. LLC leads (literacy/language co-ordinators) from all primary schools and campuses are invited to attend. The programme will feature a balance of good practice sharing by schools in the region, information sharing by EAS advisers and discussion between LLC leads across Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.

Religious Studies GCSE Support programme
The professional learning programme for Heads of RE and RE teachers at KS4 will consist of a termly session, with opportunities for collaborative work between sessions. The focus will be on preparing learners for the new GCSE specification.

The Regional Programme for Curriculum Reform
The new (draft) Curriculum for Wales will be published in April 2019. This development programme will support each school’s ‘professional learning lead’ to understand the key issues that will emerge from the reform. It will also provide a toolkit of resources (workshops and e-learning materials) to the support dissemination of key messages to all school based practitioners.
Part 1 of this programme will be a series of four face-to-face workshops with associated gap tasks, which will take place at the times outlined below

The Two ‘Es’ to be the Bees’ Knees in SCIENCE!
The event will provide opportunities for practitioners to improve their knowledge and understanding of how to develop a number of scientific strands. These will include: predicting, observing, communicating findings, explaining, drawing conclusions and linking learning by using a number of resources including the digital resources, ‘Explorify,’ ‘Terrific Scientific’ and ‘I Can Explain!’
